In today’s increasingly interconnected world, emerging technologies are transforming the global economy while introducing new security challenges. As innovations like Quantum Computing and Blockchain reshape industries, they also present unique risks, making it essential for Critical Infrastructure (CI) professionals to understand and mitigate these threats. This course explores the intersection of cybersecurity and emerging technologies, focusing on the strategic and tactical challenges these innovations create. Learners will delve into the critical issues surrounding national security, including the vulnerabilities of CI, public-private partnerships, risk analysis, and cybersecurity policy. With a homeland security perspective, the course addresses the diversity of threats in cyberspace, from cybercrime to espionage and cyberwar, emphasizing laws, strategies, and policies. By the end of the course, learners will gain insights into how cybersecurity and emerging technologies are shaping the future of global security, and how professionals can safeguard infrastructure against evolving risks.

Our country needs Critical Infrastructure professionals who understand issues and threats of new technology, and who can help protect their organization from them. This course will help learners understand both strategic and tactical issues created by new technologies and provide an introduction to two of the most significant emerging technologies today — Quantum Computing and Blockchain.

Globalization has made society increasingly reliant on technology for every facet of human endeavors. As a result of the reliance on interdependent technology society has become more vulnerable to major disruptions. This course familiarizes students with the concept of Critical Infrastructure (CI), the risks it faces, and how to protect against them. Students explore opportunities associated with infrastructure-related public-private partnerships, information sharing, risk analysis and prioritization, risk mitigation, performance metrics, program management, incident management, and investing for the future.
